Odessa, Missouri (06/09/2007): The ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Presented by GM Performance Parts has invaded the wicked fast high-banks of the I-70 (MO) Speedway, located East of Kansas City in Odessa, Missouri for the second race of the 2007 season; The Missouri 100 Presented by KC Power Equipment.

The first of two events on the 2007 calendar in the Show-Me State is now on going as the ASALMS Northern Division cars and stars are now preparing for ARP Bodies/Aluminum Racing Products Qualifying. Joining the ASALMS Northern Division contingent on the 0.543 Mile High-Banked Paved Oval are the I-70 Dash Cars and Enduro Divisions.

In the second and final Practice Session, 15-year-old Alex Kennedy turned in the fastest lap of the afternoon as the Aztec, New Mexico teenager went a 16.860 which measures out to 115.943 MPH. Jack Smith holds down the overall ASALMS track record, which is a 16.296 set during last September’s North VS South Shootout/World Cup 200. Smith’s fast lap equals out to a very quick 119.956 MPH.

Current ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year Points Leader, Jesse Saunders was second quick at a 16.942 while 2006 ASALMS Northern Division Champion, 17-year-old Jesse Smith was third fastest with a 16.988. Steven Brooks, who is celebrating his 19th birthday today was fourth fastest with a 16.998 and Charlie Menard rounded out the Top Five with a 17.044.

Rookie competitor, Mike Heiss (17.099) was sixth fastest while 15-year-old Chad Finley (17.151), Trent Snyder (17.169), current I-70 Speedway ASA Late Models Division Points Leader, Austin Siebert (17.200), and Rookie Dave Gentile Jr. (17.201) completed the Top 10.

ASALMS Qualifying Tech and Tire Impound is now open while the I-70 Speedway Dash Cars and Enduros conduct their Practice Sessions. ARP Bodies/Aluminum Racing Products Qualifying will begin at 5:30pm (CST). The Master Schedule and Time Line is Subject to Change at the discretion of the ASALMS and all Times are in accordance with Central Standard Time (CST). ARP Bodies/Aluminum Racing Products Qualifying will begin at 5:30pm as The Top 20 in ARP Bodies Qualifying will be locked into the 100-lap Feature, saving for the Top 10 in the current ASALMS Northern Division Owners Points.

The next four will then come from the first two teams not in the Top 10 in 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Owners Points Standings still not in the show while positions 25-26 will be reserved for Past Champions of the ASALMS.

If those aren’t needed, then the next Two in ARP Bodies Qualifying will fill out the 26-car field. The rest of the field will then take part in the GM Performance Parts Shootout. As of now, no one will transfer out of the Shootout, but that could change depending on ASALMS and I-70 Officials final decision.

After a 30 Minute Autograph Session and then the National Anthem, Racing begins at the historic high-banks at 7:15pm with preliminary events for the I-70 Dash Cars and Enduro divisions. The GM Performance Parts Shootout is scheduled for 7:35pm.

After a brief intermission, the I-70 Dash Cars and Enduro Divisions will run their respective Features and then after Pre Race Ceremonies and Driver Introductions, the Missouri 100 Presented by KC Power Equipment will get the green flag at approximately 8:45pm. The Master Schedule and Time Line is Subject to Change at the discretion of the ASALMS and all Times are in accordance with Central Standard Time (CST).

The ASALMS will return to the famed high-banks later this year as the cars and stars from both the ASALMS Northern and Southern Divisions will go head to head in the running of the North VS South Shootout/World Cup 200 on Saturday-Sunday September 22-23, 2007.
